Around The Affiliate Blogosphere (w/e: 18th Jan 2008)
January 18th, 2008
This is another new feature to this blog, i’ve seen it on a couple of blogs that I read in the past - it’s basically a round up of what is in my opinion the best affiliate news of the week from the blogs that I read. I’ll be posting this once a week at some point on a friday.
Kicking off the series,
CantBarsed asks the question -
Code Sites - Reasons To Be Cheerful? Which gives a fair view of the current voucher code market and advice to anybody contemplating starting a voucher code site - creating the site is only the start as Joe says.
Continuing in the voucher code stream Jason (Loquax) says “
I Shot The Shefiff - But I Haven’t Done Any PPC!“, he discusses the “current ructions in affiliate marketing” to do with voucher codes and brand bidding. He discusses how it can be policed and what can happen when we jump to the wrong conclusions.
This week we also learned that
Fraser will be recording a podcast on the subject of the voucher market so if you have any questions (assuming it hasn’t been recorded yet) head over to Fraser blog post:
Questions for Voucher Code Affiliates.
Onto other news and we learned that PepperJam have launched a ‘Next Generation Affiliate Network’ although based in the US they have said that some campaigns will be international. Further information can be found at the
Affiliates4u blog and
Kierons blog.
Staying with
Kieron, he posted a very useful guide to
building an affiliate website from scratch using wordpress and a post about
how not to run an affiliate programme.
Finally, (again thanks to Kieron) we learned about how bloggers gizmodo acted at the CES, which added to the debate as to whether bloggers should be classed as members of the press -
Kieron reported that “
among others, The Wall Street Journal certainly aren’t of this opinion.”
Another summary of affiliate news from around the blogosphere next friday at some point

Smart idea to do these round-ups as could save us time from filtering through all the noise out there.
But what I really wanted to say is your blog design looks absolutely awesome (my English literature teacher used to prohibit me from using that American word, but there’s no other way to describe your blog)!
Keep up the brilliant work.

Thanks Nadeem, I hope they become useful
The blog design is a freebie (kind of fell in love with it when I saw it, I can’t remember where I initially found it but it’s called hyperglass you can now download it from http://courtneytuttle.com/seo-wordpress-themes/hyperglass/.)
Cheers
